The Taipei 101 Partners Monument, completed in 2007, pays homage to all those involved in the creation of the landmark Taipei 101 building. Conceived by the renowned architectural firm C Y Lee and designed by Florence Ng, the monument draws inspiration from the Chinese tangram puzzle, a symbol of connection and collaboration. Florence’s design also takes cues from the playful and dynamic nature of Lego bricks, which represent the foundational building blocks of a structure.

Crafted from interlocking glass bricks, the monument’s design posed engineering challenges—specifically how to support the heavy glass units while maintaining an almost invisible frame. The solution: a robust, yet discreet, structure that supports the bricks against strong winds, earthquakes, and typhoons, with a pin system allowing for easy maintenance.
A seamless fusion of art, engineering, and architecture, the monument is a testament to resilience, collaboration, and the enduring spirit of the Taipei 101 project.
